R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, All businesses are essential to the financial health |
|
and well-being of the local economy and are therefore essential to |
|
the financial health and well-being of every Texan; and |
|
WHEREAS, Arbitrarily labeling some businesses as |
|
"nonessential" and shutting down entire industries for extended |
|
periods of time creates lasting economic harm; it also creates a |
|
drain on already-strained taxpayer resources, a massive spike in |
|
unemployment, and an increase in the occurrence and impact of |
|
diseases of despair such as alcoholism, drug abuse, and suicide; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, At a time when personal responsibility is more |
|
important than ever, Texans should be trusted to make their own |
|
safety decisions about where to go and how to protect themselves; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Texans who are employed should be able to stay |
|
employed, and Texans who lack employment should be able to gain |
|
employment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 87th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby recognize that all businesses are essential and all Texans |
|
who want to work should be free to earn a living free from |
|
government interference. |
