Christopher Eugene Luttrell |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Christopher Eugene Luttrell, who died |
|
December 17, 2020, at the age of 46; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Chris Luttrell was born on |
|
September 9, 1974; he was an active child, and in school, he |
|
enjoyed theater and playing football; from a young age, his kind |
|
nature and genuine love for people were evident, and these |
|
qualities enabled him to find joy and fulfillment in all of his |
|
endeavors throughout his life; and |
|
WHEREAS, Chris determined his purpose in life was to enter |
|
the field of law enforcement, and he went on to forge a successful |
|
career that included serving as a member of the Burleson County |
|
Sheriff's Department, the Caldwell Police Department, and the |
|
University of Houston Campus Police Department; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2014, he began serving as an officer for the |
|
Blinn College Police Department on the Brenham campus, where he |
|
was known for his friendly and engaging personality and for his |
|
dedication to helping students learn to build positive |
|
relationships with law enforcement officers; he taught classes |
|
on sexual violence prevention and was proud of his work with the |
|
Sexual Assault Resource Center, and in 2018, the center |
|
recognized him as Officer of the Year; and |
|
WHEREAS, Officer Luttrell placed great value in education, |
|
and he served the community as a member of the board of the Caldwell |
|
Independent School District; he is credited with initiating the |
|
Explorer Program at Caldwell High School to promote positive |
|
relationships between students and law enforcement, and he played a |
|
key role in establishing the Caldwell Police Department's K-9 |
|
program; and |
|
WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Chris cherished time spent |
|
with his beloved wife, Erin Kasey Hughes, and he found great joy |
|
in creating special memories with each of their six children; he |
|
was a treasured member of his community, and he will long be |
|
remembered with great respect and admiration by all who were |
|
privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Christopher Eugene Luttrell; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Chris Luttrell. |
