SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 18
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Christopher Eugene Luttrell
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Christopher Eugene Luttrell, who died
  December 17, 2020, at the age of 46; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Chris Luttrell was born on
  September 9, 1974; he was an active child, and in school, he
  enjoyed theater and playing football; from a young age, his kind
  nature and genuine love for people were evident, and these
  qualities enabled him to find joy and fulfillment in all of his
  endeavors throughout his life; and
         WHEREAS, Chris determined his purpose in life was to enter
  the field of law enforcement, and he went on to forge a successful
  career that included serving as a member of the Burleson County
  Sheriff's Department, the Caldwell Police Department, and the
  University of Houston Campus Police Department; and
         WHEREAS, In 2014, he began serving as an officer for the
  Blinn College Police Department on the Brenham campus, where he
  was known for his friendly and engaging personality and for his
  dedication to helping students learn to build positive
  relationships with law enforcement officers; he taught classes
  on sexual violence prevention and was proud of his work with the
  Sexual Assault Resource Center, and in 2018, the center
  recognized him as Officer of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, Officer Luttrell placed great value in education,
  and he served the community as a member of the board of the Caldwell
  Independent School District; he is credited with initiating the
  Explorer Program at Caldwell High School to promote positive
  relationships between students and law enforcement, and he played a
  key role in establishing the Caldwell Police Department's K-9
  program; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Chris cherished time spent
  with his beloved wife, Erin Kasey Hughes, and he found great joy
  in creating special memories with each of their six children; he
  was a treasured member of his community, and he will long be
  remembered with great respect and admiration by all who were
  privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Christopher Eugene Luttrell; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Chris Luttrell.
