SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 62

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Patrick Torres for his outstanding career and for his many contributions to Texas education; and

WHEREAS, During his 27 years in the field of education, Dr. Torres has promoted the success of Texas students in his roles as coach, teacher, mentor, principal, and assistant superintendent; he has served communities in the Dallas, Wylie, Grapevine/Colleyville, Eagle Mountain Saginaw, and Red Oak Independent School Districts, and he continues to help students achieve their full potential as the superintendent of the Denver City Independent School District; and

WHEREAS, A bilingual administrator, Dr. Torres has earned the respect and admiration of students, colleagues, and local communities by fostering cultures of trust and transparency at his campuses; he prioritizes school and community partnerships and introduces enriching programs and initiatives that are designed to focus on students' academic, emotional, and social development; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Torres earned his bachelor of science degree from the University of North Texas and his master's degree and doctoral degree from Dallas Baptist University; he is an esteemed leader in public education, and he can reflect with pride on his impressive record of service in Texas communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Patrick Torres for his commitment to educating the next generation of Texas leaders and extend to him best wishes in all his endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
