SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 96
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Beatrice Gonzalez-Morrow on the grand occasion of her |
|
|
100th birthday; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A woman of great charm and grace, Beatrice |
|
|
Gonzalez was born on February 26, 1921, in Brownsville; as a |
|
|
young girl, she dreamed of becoming a nurse, and after graduating |
|
|
from Brownsville High School, she worked in doctors' offices in |
|
|
her hometown; after World War II ended, she moved to Dallas to |
|
|
pursue her dreams, and she went on to graduate from the Baylor |
|
|
University Louise Herrington School of Nursing; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Beatrice enjoyed a rewarding and productive |
|
|
career of more than 35 years as a nurse at Baylor University |
|
|
Hospital in Dallas, where she served in the Intensive Care Unit; |
|
|
while working in Dallas, she met and married the love of her life, |
|
|
Percy "Slim" Morrow; she and her beloved late husband shared many |
|
|
joyful years of marriage and took great pleasure in traveling |
|
|
throughout the United States together; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of the Brownsville |
|
|
community, Mrs. Gonzalez-Morrow has been privileged to witness |
|
|
events that many people only know about through history books, |
|
|
and there is much to be learned from the wisdom she has gained |
|
|
over the years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Known affectionately as Aunt Bea, she is noted for |
|
|
her warmth, her compassion for others, and her positive attitude, |
|
|
and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest has long |
|
|
been a source of strength and inspiration to those around her; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to Beatrice Gonzalez-Morrow and |
|
|
extend to her congratulations on the occasion of her 100th |
|
|
birthday; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in her |
|
|
honor. |
