SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 109

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the annual Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cook-off, which is taking place on June 18, 2021; and

WHEREAS, The annual Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cook-off is held at the Covington Volunteer Fire Station and attracts participants from all around the state; and

WHEREAS, This highly anticipated event is sponsored by the fire department and is sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers Association as one of the organization's annual state cook-offs; and

WHEREAS, Proceeds from the competition benefit the fire department and provide for training, protective equipment, and equipment maintenance, all of which allow fire department members to better serve the community; and

WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their affinity for barbecue and spirited competition, and the annual Covington Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cook-off provides visitors with the opportunity to sample the wares of some of the best chefs in the state; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Covington Volunteer Fire Department and the participants in its 2021 BBQ Cook-off on their hard work and dedication and extend to them best wishes for a successful event; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this exemplary event.
