SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 139
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Stephen Washington, a 60-year member of Kappa Alpha Psi |
|
|
Fraternity, Incorporated, who was honored by the Dallas Alumni |
|
|
Chapter at the 2021 Chapter Anniversary on March 9, 2021; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Dallas Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi was |
|
|
established on March 9, 1935, to provide the people of North |
|
|
Texas with programs of community service, civic engagement, and |
|
|
social enlightenment; the chapter has consistently promoted its |
|
|
objective of service in the public interest and the pursuit of |
|
|
excellence in every field of human endeavor; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Stephen Washington was initiated into Kappa Alpha |
|
|
Psi Fraternity in 1961; for 60 years, he has served the |
|
|
fraternity through his professional work and through his |
|
|
participation in community projects; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He has played an important role in the chapter's |
|
|
voter registration drives and community town hall meetings; his |
|
|
work as a mentor to new members and recent college graduates has |
|
|
been an inspiration to others, and he has been a generous |
|
|
contributor to the chapter's scholarship programs; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Stephen Washington has for 60 years played an |
|
|
important role in furthering the Dallas Alumni Chapter's mission |
|
|
of encouraging high scholastic and ethical standards, fostering |
|
|
unity and friendship, and promoting service in the public |
|
|
interest; it is indeed fitting that he receive special |
|
|
recognition for his work; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Stephen Washington for his many |
|
|
achievements and his dedicated service to the Dallas Alumni |
|
|
Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, and extend |
|
|
to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
