SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 178
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Sergeant Alonzo Gonzalez, who retired from the El Campo
  Police Department on February 28, 2021, after 43 years in law
  enforcement; and
         WHEREAS, A native of El Campo, Alonzo Gonzalez graduated
  from Louise High School and from the Victoria Police Academy, and
  he devoted three years of service to the Victoria Police
  Department as a patrol officer; and
         WHEREAS, On March 20, 1981, Officer Gonzalez was hired by
  the El Campo Police Department, and for the next four decades, he
  worked diligently to protect and serve his hometown community; he
  moved up through the ranks to become a field training officer and
  then a patrol sergeant, and he turned down the opportunity to
  become a detective so that he could continue to actively handle
  the duties of a patrolman; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, Sergeant
  Gonzalez effectively managed the far-reaching responsibilities
  and challenges of his positions in the field of law enforcement;
  he is admired by his colleagues and by area citizens for his hard
  work, courage, and perseverance, and his presence with the El
  Campo Police Department will be greatly missed; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, hereby commend Alonzo Gonzalez on his outstanding
  career as a law enforcement officer and on 40 years of invaluable
  service to the El Campo community; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
