Patrick Michael Bergman |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
|
commemorates the life of Patrick Michael Bergman, who died March |
|
|
5, 2021, at the age of 37; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Patrick Bergman was an exemplary citizen and a |
|
|
dedicated firefighter who was widely respected and admired in his |
|
|
community for his exceptional achievements and his tireless |
|
|
commitment to public service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Patrick was born on December 31, 1983, in Austin, |
|
|
and throughout his childhood, he dreamed of becoming a |
|
|
firefighter; he became a volunteer firefighter, and after his |
|
|
graduation from the Austin Community College Fire Academy, his |
|
|
dream became a reality when he was hired by the Killeen Fire |
|
|
Department in 2005; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the course of his distinguished 15-year |
|
|
career with the department, he carried out his duties |
|
|
courageously, and he expanded his focus beyond firefighting to |
|
|
undertake additional roles in community service; he became a |
|
|
paramedic, earned multiple fire instructor certifications, |
|
|
served on the Honor Guard, and taught at the Killeen Fire |
|
|
Academy; his awards included Dispatcher of the Year in 2012 and |
|
|
2013 and Firefighter of the Year in 2015; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He recognized the unique hazards of firefighting |
|
|
duty, and he became active in the Firefighter Cancer Support |
|
|
Network; he was a member of Vista Community Church, where he |
|
|
served on the Host team; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Patrick was a man of honor, integrity, and |
|
|
determination, and he demonstrated great courage in the face of |
|
|
his illness; he was a source of inspiration to his family and |
|
|
friends, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured |
|
|
forever by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
|
family of Patrick Michael Bergman; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
|
memory of Patrick Bergman. |
