SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 471
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Lawana Jo McGuyer
 
         WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with
  the passing of Lawana Jo McGuyer on April 29, 2021, at the age of
  83; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Johnny Brooks and Zona Mae Nix
  Brooks, the former Jo Brooks was born in Big Spring on March 17,
  1938; she shared a fulfilling marriage of 60 years with Billy F.
  McGuyer, and she was devoted to her daughters, Elizabeth and
  Mary, and her grandchildren, Louis, Micheal, Liberty, and
  Angela; the McGuyers lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for more
  than three decades before moving to Mineola in 1993; and
         WHEREAS, For many years, Mrs. McGuyer taught at Immaculate
  Conception Catholic Church; she established a number of
  businesses, and during the 1980s, she owned Memaw's Trunk, a
  prominent pageant dress design shop in downtown Grand Prairie;
  active in her community, she was a proud founding member of the
  Republican Women of Wood County; in addition, she was a longtime
  member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the
  Episcopal Church of St. Dunstan in Mineola; an avid reader, she
  also enjoyed cooking, card games, traveling, and watching golf;
  above all, she delighted in spending time with her treasured
  family; and
         WHEREAS, Although Jo McGuyer will be deeply missed, she has
  left her family and friends with a wealth of memories that they
  will forever treasure; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Lawana Jo McGuyer
  and extend sincere condolences to her loved ones; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Lawana Jo McGuyer.
