SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 476
         WHEREAS, Project Amistad is celebrating its 45th
  anniversary in 2021, and this milestone offers a welcome
  opportunity to reflect on the organization's vital work in behalf
  of the El Paso and Far West Texas communities; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1976, Project Amistad was
  developed to provide transportation and social services to
  elderly residents and people with disabilities, and it has since
  implemented a number of programs that offer guardianship case
  management, counseling, peer support, and assistance to veterans
  with housing and utility expenses; in addition, the organization
  has continued to transport clients throughout the COVID-19
  pandemic, ensuring that they have access to testing sites and
  medical care; and
         WHEREAS, Project Amistad has greatly benefited from the
  leadership of its chief executive officer, Andrea Ramirez, as
  well as from the outstanding efforts of its staff, board members,
  and volunteers; among its many accolades, the organization was
  named the 2020 Best Nonprofit by El Paso Inc.; and
         WHEREAS, Over the past 45 years, Project Amistad has made a
  meaningful difference in the lives of countless area residents in
  need, and the organization is indeed deserving of recognition on
  this important milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, hereby commemorate the 45th anniversary of Project
  Amistad and extend to all those associated with the organization
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Project Amistad as an expression of high regard from
  the Texas Senate.
