SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 481
         WHEREAS, Stanley's Famous Pit Bar-B-Q in Tyler was
  designated as a Tyler Historic Landmark by the Tyler Historical
  Preservation Board in 2020; and
         WHEREAS, Founded by J. D. Stanley in 1958, Stanley's is one
  of the oldest family-owned barbecue restaurants in Tyler;
  currently, the business is owned by Nick and Jen Pencis, who took
  over in 2006 after Mr. Stanley's passing; under the couple's able
  leadership, the restaurant was expanded in 2013 to increase the
  cooking and seating capacity and add a full-service bar; the
  restaurant also features weekly live music; and
         WHEREAS, Among its many accolades, Stanley's has been named
  "One of the Best BBQ Joints in the World" by Texas Monthly; the
  eatery has also been featured in BBQ Joints: Stories and Secret
  Recipes from the Barbeque Belt by David Gelin and The Prophets of
  Smoked Meat by Daniel Vaughn; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of more than six decades,
  Stanley's has gained a loyal following, and this treasured
  institution is indeed deserving of recognition for its rich
  history of service to the Tyler community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
  Legislature, hereby recognize Stanley's Famous Pit Bar-B-Q on
  its designation as a Tyler Historic Landmark by the Tyler
  Historical Preservation Board and extend to all those associated
  with the establishment sincere best wishes for the future; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for the restaurant as an expression of high regard from
  the Texas Senate.
