SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 503
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
|
recognize Judy Moore, who has been named the 2021 Teacher |
|
|
Advocate of the Year by the Texas Public Charter Schools |
|
|
Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Judy Moore is a middle school teacher at Austin |
|
|
Achieve Public Schools; in addition to her exemplary work in the |
|
|
classroom, she is known for her efforts to help other teachers |
|
|
become involved in Texas public education policy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She serves as a coach and mentor to other |
|
|
educators at the Teacher Advocacy Leadership Institute and works |
|
|
with them in their efforts to share their experiences and |
|
|
priorities with local and state lawmakers; she recently |
|
|
organized a virtual teachers rally that facilitated dialogue |
|
|
among educators across the state; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, She has been featured in media outlets such as |
|
|
Reform Austin to explain the ways that she and other teachers |
|
|
adapted to the need for virtual instruction during the COVID-19 |
|
|
pandemic; she also helped to arrange a virtual meeting for her |
|
|
students to meet with a state lawmaker; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, As a first-generation college graduate, she |
|
|
appreciates the power of public education in unlocking students' |
|
|
potential, and she has worked tirelessly in support of our |
|
|
state's students and educators; it is truly fitting that she |
|
|
receive special recognition for her outstanding work and her many |
|
|
contributions to public education in Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby commend Judy Moore on her commitment to |
|
|
excellence in education and extend congratulations to her on being |
|
|
named the 2021 Teacher Advocate of the Year; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
