SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 521

WHEREAS, Caroline Braun of Tyler celebrated her 102nd birthday on May 22, 2021, and many relatives and friends gathered to extend to her their congratulations and best wishes; and

WHEREAS, A Colorado native, Ms. Braun was born in 1919; she began a long career in education teaching in a one-room school house in Aurora, Colorado; over the years, she especially enjoyed teaching second grade, and when her son and daughter were young, she sometimes enlisted them in the task of grading papers; she retired at the age of 60; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Braun moved to Tyler in 2003 with her daughter and son-in-law; for more than a decade, she has been a valued resident of Meadow Lake Senior Living; she adores parties and gathering with her treasured family, which has grown to include five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; in addition, she enjoys doing crossword and word search puzzles; she is sustained by a strong faith and brightens the days of those around her with her joyful, caring nature; and

WHEREAS, Caroline Braun is a source of tremendous inspiration, and in sharing the experience gained through more than a century of life well lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that benefits all who are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th Legislature, hereby congratulate Caroline Braun on her 102nd birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Ms. Braun as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
