LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 15, 2021

TO:
Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB129 by González, Mary (Relating to requiring a digital citizenship curriculum.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to requiring a digital citizenship curriculum could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

School districts and charter schools would likely have costs to implement the bill's provisions relating to a new required course and graduation requirement, including curriculum development, instructional materials, training, and the hiring of new teachers.
