No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Article 12.01 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to extend the statute of limitations for an assault or aggregated assault to five years if committed against another person whose relationship is defined by the Texas Family Code as family, dating, or sharing a household. In addition, the statute of limitations for continuous violence against the family would be extended to five years.

According to the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal implication to the state court system is anticipated. 

Local Government Impact

Bexar County does not expect a fiscal impact from the bill.
