LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 21, 2021

TO:
Honorable Brooks Landgraf, Chair, House Committee on Environmental Regulation

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB355 by Lopez (Relating to providing notice to a state representative and senator of an administrative penalty assessed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Water Code to require the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to provide notice of an assessed administrative penalty to a member of the Texas Legislature that represents an area where the violation for which the agency has assessed the administrative penalty has occurred.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed with existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
