IN RE:	HB446 by Allison (Relating to increasing the criminal penalty for the offense of criminal mischief involving the damage or destruction of a public monument.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Penal Code as it relates to the criminal penalty for the offense of criminal mischief. Under the provisions of the bill, if the amount of the pecuniary loss is $750 or more but less than $150,000 and the property damaged or destroyed is a public monument, the offense would be a third degree felony. 

The Office of Court Administration indicates the modifications outlined in the bill's provisions would not result in a significant fiscal impact.  This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill addressing felony sanctions would not result in a significant impact on the demand for state correctional resources. 

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
