No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend various codes as they relate to the offense of trafficking of persons. Under the provisions of the bill, engaging in certain sexual conduct with a trafficked person would be punishable as a felony with the specific punishment based on the circumstances of the offense.
The Office of Court Administration and the Department of Criminal Justice indicate the modifications outlined in the bill's provisions would not result in a significant fiscal impact. This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill addressing felony sanctions would not result in a significant impact on the demand for state correctional resources.
