LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 10, 2021

TO:
Honorable Briscoe Cain, Chair, House Committee on Elections

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB478 by González, Jessica (Relating to accommodating a voter unable to enter a polling place.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code to require an election officer to designate a parking space at each polling place for voting for use by a voter who is unable to enter the polling place.

Local Government Impact

Bastrop, Hays, and Williamson counties do not anticipate a significant fiscal impact to counties from HB 22, as introduced. However, Fort Bend expects that the bill would cost the county $30,000 to $40,000 to create designated parking spaces and Bexar County anticipates a cost of $40,000.
