Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 11, 2021

TO:
Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1016 by Ordaz Perez (Relating to active shooter drills conducted by public schools.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require that a local education agency adopt a policy regarding active school drills that complies with certain requirements.

This analysis assumes that the bill could be implemented within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

Although local education agencies could incur some costs related to the adoption and implementation of the active shooter policy required by the bill, those costs are not anticipated to be significant.
