No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill.

The bill would establish a Texas Redistricting Commission and delegate the legislature's congressional, state senate, and state house redistricting powers to that body. In addition, the commission would have the power to reapportion judicial districts under certain circumstances. The bill would require the Texas Legislative Council to provide technical staff and clerical services to the commission.

It is anticipated that the costs associated with the bill's provisions could be absorbed using existing resources.
