LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 12, 2021

TO:
Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1075 by Meza (Relating to the designation of State Highway 356 in Irving as a historic highway.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Texas Historical Commission (THC) to cooperate with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to designate, interpret, and market a portion of State Highway 356 as a Texas historic highway. The bill would authorize the agencies to pursue federal funds to supplement revenue available for those purposes. The bill would stipulate that TxDOT is not required to design, construct, or erect a highway marker unless a grant or donation of funds is made to TxDOT to cover the costs.

Based on the information provided by THC and TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agencies' existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
