LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 22, 2021

TO:
Honorable Terry Canales, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1181 by Middleton (Relating to the authority of certain counties to authorize the operation of a golf cart or off-highway vehicle on certain roads.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Transportation Code, Section 551.404(c), and Section 551A.053(c), relating to the authority of certain counties to authorize the operation of a golf cart or off-highway vehicle on certain roads when the golf cart or off-highway vehicle displays the applicable license plate issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV).

The bill would increase the number of counties authorized to allow the operation of a golf cart or off-highway vehicle on certain roads. Based on the information and analysis provided by TxDMV, it is assumed implementation of the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the State.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
