No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to training for certain peace officers regarding trauma-informed techniques to facilitate interactions with homeless individuals could be absorbed using existing resources. The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement indicates costs my include additional staff time and resources to research and contact local jurisdictions regarding the size of the homeless population, as well as software development to ensure compliance.
This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources.
