HB1293 by Smithee (Relating to the authority of a court to grant a motion for a new trial in certain criminal cases.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow a defendant, at any time during a term of imprisonment, and with the written consent of the district attorney or criminal district attorney, file a motion for a new trial with the convicting court.

Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
