No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Election Code to require that all components of a voting system used in an election in this state be manufactured, stored, and held in the United States by a company headquartered in the United States.
According to the Secretary of State, no significant fiscal impact to the State is anticipated.
Local Government Impact
El Paso County anticipates a cost of $6 million to replace their entire voting system, or a cost of about $3 million to retrofit their system with components manufactured only in the U.S. Cameron County anticipates a cost of about $8 million for the complete replacement of their voting equipment.
