No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Education Code and the Local Government Code to provide that open-enrollment charter schools are on the same footing as independent school districts with regard to ordinances and fees that may be imposed by municipalities and that a political subdivision may not enact or enforce a law that would prohibit an open-enrollment charter school from operating at a location.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Education Agency, the bill's provision may result in a cost savings to open-enrollment charter schools.

According to the Texas Association of Counties, no significant fiscal implication to counties is anticipated.
