Honorable Chris Paddie, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs
FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1380 by Longoria (Relating to information technology purchased through the Department of Information Resources.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Section 2157.068 of the Government Code to expand the definition of "commodity item" for the purposes of this section. The bill would also amend Section 2157.182 of the Government Code so that the terms and conditions to which a vendor, the Comptroller, and the Department of Information Resources agree to would be valid for the duration of an initial contract between a vendor and a state agency and could be renegotiated before they expire.
Based on the analysis provided by the Department of Information Resources and the Comptroller, it is assumed that any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
