IN RE:
HB1493 by Herrero (Relating to the use of an entity name that falsely implies governmental affiliation.), Conference Committee Report
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Among other provisions, the bill would provide for the authority of the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Attorney General, to determine that an entity name falsely implies affiliation with a governmental entity.
According to the Secretary of State, the agency would need to update certain forms and adopt administrative rules. However, it anticipates that it would be able to undertake those actions using existing resources.
According to the Office of the Attorney General, the required review would be relatively narrow and the agency does not anticipate that it would require a significant resource commitment.
According to the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
