HB1617 by Bonnen (Relating to recovery of medical or health care expenses in civil actions.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to provides that a party in an action to recover medical or health care expenses may introduce evidence of the reasonableness of the amount charged for medical or health care services provided to the claimant. The bill would take effect September 1, 2021 and would apply to an action commenced on or after the effective date.

Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
