No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to establish that a person who is deposed in a lawsuit, the attorneys of record, and the parties to the lawsuit are entitled to obtain a copy of the deposition subject to the payment of a reasonable fee to the court reporter or the court reporting firm which reports the deposition. The bill would also, under certain circumstances, allow a person who is not certified as a court reporter to report a deposition if a certified reporter is not available.

Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.
