Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1790 by Darby (Relating to the notice provided to certain individuals on termination of the parent-child relationship and on placement of a child in the managing conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Family Code and require the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to notify certain relatives following the termination of a parent-child relationship that the relative has 90 days from the date the order is issued to file an original suit or suit for modification requesting managing conservatorship of the child. In addition, the bill would require DFPS to inform those individuals of the methods by which they may exercise their options to participate in the child's care and placement.
Based on analysis of DFPS, it is assumed that the costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
