LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 10, 2021

TO:
Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2465 by Gervin-Hawkins (Relating to requiring cultural inclusion curriculum as part of the enrichment curriculum for public schools.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add cultural inclusion to the list of subject areas required under the enrichment curriculum. The bill would also require the State Board of Education to develop curriculum on cultural inclusivity.

It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to cultural inclusion curriculum could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Education Agency, local education agencies could see costs related educator professional development and instructional resources to deliver the new instruction
