HB2485 by Herrero (Relating to the exemption of certain firefighters and police officers from jury service.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to provide that a person qualified to serve as a juror may establish an exemption from jury service if the person is a firefighter who is a permanent, paid employee of the fire department of a municipality or county or special district or authority that provides firefighting services, or, is a police officer who is a permanent, paid employee of the police department of a municipality or county.

Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
