LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 12, 2021

TO:
Honorable Chris Paddie, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2558 by Capriglione (relating to prohibited state contracts with companies that discriminate against the firearm or ammunition industries.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to add new Chapter 2274, regarding prohibition on contracts with companies that discriminate against firearm and ammunition industries. Based on the analyses of the Office of the Attorney General and Comptroller of Public Accounts, it is assumed that the costs associated with the implementation of the bill's provisions could be absorbed within existing resources.

The bill would take effect on September 1, 2021.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
