LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 18, 2021

TO:
Honorable James B. Frank, Chair, House Committee on Human Services

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2737 by Minjarez (Relating to notifying an alleged perpetrator of child abuse or neglect of the person's rights in connection with an investigation conducted by the Department of Family and Protective Services.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Family Code to require the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to provide certain information upon first contact with a parent or legal guardian after an initiation of an investigation. DFPS would also be required to develop a form to verify that the information was received.

Based on analysis of DFPS, it is assumed that the costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
