IN RE: |
HB2794 by Thompson, Senfronia (Relating to evidence in prosecutions of trafficking or certain sexual offenses.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow each party the opportunity to present, subject only to the Texas Rules of Evidence and other applicable law, any and all relevant evidence that would assist the trier of fact in determining whether the defendant committed the offense in the trial of certain sexual offenses, i.e., trafficking of persons, sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, and prostitution related offenses.
Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.
