No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to direct the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS) to establish an advisory committee to make recommendations related to persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities confined in a county jail. The bill would also require the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) and TCJS to establish a training program for county jailers.

According to TCJS, TCOLE, and the Health and Human Services Commission, the costs associated with the bill's provisions could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
