LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 2, 2021

TO:
Honorable Harold V. Dutton, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2874 by Anchia (Relating to a requirement that public schools issue student identification cards to high school students.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require local education agencies (LEAs) to issue cards to high school students.

Local Government Impact

LEAs could see increased costs associated with producing identification cards, although those costs could be offset by charging fees for the cards.
