No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to provide an exception to the rule to exclude witnesses. Under the provisions of the bill, the state would be able to designate a qualifying officer or employee to remain in the courtroom as the state's courtroom representative. If the state designates a law enforcement officer, the officer would not be able to wear his or her uniform or badge while serving as the representative.

Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
