LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 7, 2021

TO:
Honorable Ken King, Chair, House Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism

FROM:

IN RE:
HB3257 by King, Phil (Relating to the creation of the Texas Commission on Antisemitism.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add Chapter 448 to the Government Code to create the Texas Commission on Antisemitism, which would be administratively attached to the Historical Commission. The nine member commission would be entitled to reimbursement for travel expenses incurred while transacting commission business. Meetings would be held quarterly. The Historical Commission would be required to provide one part-time employee to serve as the coordinator for the commission, and may provide additional support. It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
