LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 20, 2021

TO:
Honorable Stephanie Klick, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3582 by Guerra (Relating to the awarding of grants to initiate, expand, maintain, and improve emergency medical services and to support medical systems and facilities that provide trauma care.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Health and Safety Code to require the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to establish eligibility criteria for awarding grants to initiate, expand, maintain and improve emergency medical services and to support medical systems and facilities that provide trauma care and would require the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to give certain considerations in awarding such grants.

HHSC and DSHS indicate any cost to implement provisions of the bill would be minimal and could be absorbed within available resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
