LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 2, 2021

TO:
Honorable James White, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3671 by Johnson, Julie (Relating to the reporting of certain orders and convictions to theĀ Department of Public Safety and Federal Bureau of Investigation forĀ use with the National Instant Criminal Background Check System for the transfer of firearms.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to the reporting of certain orders and convictions to the Department of Public Safety and Federal Bureau of Investigation for use with the National Instant Criminal Background Check System for the transfer of firearms could be absorbed using existing resources.

This analysis assumes the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
