No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 351 of the Tax Code, regarding municipal hotel occupancy taxes.
The bill would amend Section 351.101 by adding Subsection (s) to authorize a municipality that has a population of 70,000 or more but less than 90,000 and is located in two counties, one of which has a population of four million or more and the other of which has a population of less than 50,000, to use revenue from the municipal hotel occupancy tax for the promotion of tourism by the enhancement and upgrading of an existing sports facility or field.
The bill would have no state revenue implications.
The bill would take effect immediately upon enactment, assuming that it received the requisite two-thirds majority votes in both houses of the Legislature. Otherwise it would take effect September 1, 2021.
