LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION
April 25, 2021
TO:
Honorable Stephanie Klick, Chair, House Committee on Public Health
FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3740 by Guillen (Relating to the provision of home telemonitoring services under Medicaid.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Government Code Chapter 531 relating to the provision of home telemonitoring services under Medicaid by expanding the risk factors which may make a Medicaid recipient eligible for home telemonitoring services. While the provisions of the bill may increase utilization of home telemonitoring services, this analysis assumes that if providing reimbursement for home telemonitoring services is not cost effective, the agency would discontinue providing reimbursement for the services pursuant to Government Code Section 531.02164(d).
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
