FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3980 by Goodwin (Relating to a health facility's removal of medical equipment from a deceased individual's body before transfer to a funeral director; authorizing an administrative penalty.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Health and Safety Code to require a health facility to remove all medical equipment from a deceased individual's body before the body is transferred to a funeral director. The Health and Human Services Commission would impose an administrative penalty against a health facility that violates the provisions of the bills.
The Health and Human Services Commission indicates any cost to implement provisions of the bill would be minimal and could be absorbed within available resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
