HB4048 by Allison (Relating to the authority of an advanced practice registered nurse or physician assistant regarding death certificates.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would repeal Section 193.005(a-1), Health and Safety Code, to permit a physician assistant or advanced practice resident nurse of a decedent to complete the medical certification for death certificates or fetal death certificates if the death occurred under the care of the person in connection with the treatment of the condition or disease process that contributed to the death.

Based on information provided by the Texas Medical Board, the Texas Board of Nursing, and the Department of State Health Services, any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
