FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 26, 2021

TO:
Honorable Stephanie Klick, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4118 by Rose (Relating to the adoption and implementation of a surgical smoke evacuation system policy at certain health care facilities.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 222 of the Health and Safety Code to require health care facilities to adopt and implement a policy to prevent exposure to surgical smoke through the use of a surgical smoke evacuation system during a planned surgical procedure that is likely to generate surgical smoke.

The Health and Human Services Commission indicates it could absorb the costs associated with the bill within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
