LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 12, 2021

TO:
Honorable Chris Paddie, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB4507 by Schofield (Relating to federal election practices and procedures.), As Introduced

The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined at this time.  Any fiscal impact would be contingent upon future changes in Federal law.

This bill would amend the Election Code related to the implementation of federal law regarding voter registration or the conduct of elections.  It would require that if any provision of Federal law regarding the registration of voters or the conduct of elections is not required to be implemented or enforced, an affected state law or rule would be suspended to the extent that the state law or rule was enacted or adopted to implement that Federal law.

Because the fiscal impact of this bill, if any, is contingent upon future changes in Federal statutes and rules, any costs to implement the bills provisions cannot be determined at this time.

Local Government Impact

The fiscal implications of the bill to local jurisdictions cannot be determined at this time.
