LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 25, 2021

TO:
Honorable Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor, Senate

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB30 by West (Relating to the removal of certain discriminatory provisions from a recorded conveyance instrument or document.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Property Code to allow for the removal of discriminatory restrictions or provisions from property records through the submission of a form that can be considered by county clerks. The bill provides a suggested form with minimum information to be contained.

The Office of the Attorney General indicates that costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The Brazoria County Clerk expects a minimal fiscal impact and the Guadalupe County Clerk does not anticipate a fiscal impact from provisions of the bill.
